Did you trick-or-treat as a child? (I'll make a post later today or tomorrow about favorite costumes you've worn, as a child or an adult!) What was your experience with this, if any?

I grew up trick-or-treating...we weren't big into Halloween as a holiday, but Mom wanted me to have fun and so she always costumed me and took me trick-or-treating around to houses we knew and well-reputed areas we were familiar with (you know how some neighborhoods in town just have great reps, esp for Halloween). I always brought home lots of treats, and it was a blast. Loved it. :) I stopped - not sure what year exactly, but probably before I hit middle school at age eleven, as I don't remember doing it from middle school on up. Of course, this was back in safer days, though we did have the big razor blades in apples scare and all that at some point in my childhood....

Memories of trick or treats past, anyone?

Shirebound, thanks for doing this...this is awesome fun and I'm sure things will only heat up here as the month passes. (And Alien's too scary for me, and so's Poltergeist!)

Hugs to all,
Febobe :)

Goodness, yes! And this was the 1960s, when children roamed the neighborhoods at will, coming home at last with bags of loot. My parents would put all the candy my brother and I collected in a big white bowl (which I still have) on top the fridge, and it took me years to realize I could just stand on a chair and get to that bowl. :)

Even in the 70s we roamed the neighborhoods like ruffians! :D

T-o'-T'ing was bliss for me. We lived in a quiet neighborhood with lots of houses, really safe and away from traffic. We ran around like idiots, getting the goods. Dad always tried stealing the Reeses' cups though, lol!

Oh, yes! It was my favorite night of the year, especially when my brothers and I got old enough to go out with just our friends. We lived in a new subdivision with lots of kids and lots of houses and the streets just rang out with calls of "Trick or Treat!".

Then we'd get candy in our school lunches for about a week after and we'd forget about the candy and it would show up again in our Christmas stockings a couple months later, lol!

We only went out a few times when I was a kid, but it was great fun, wasn't it?

Yes, I LOVED trick-or-treating! Usuaally I got together with some friends and we hit everywhere we could. I loved the thrill, the awesomeness of dressing up, the magic of the night!
